How to make WordPress AI-ready
WordPress is server-rendered (good for AI). Here's how to get it found, read and cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Claude & Gemini — then verify with a free scan.
The universal checklist
- Let AI crawlers in (robots.txt: allow GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended)
- Make sure content is in the HTML, not JavaScript-only
- Add Schema.org JSON-LD structured data
- Publish an llms.txt and an XML sitemap
- Set title, meta description, canonical and Open Graph tags
On WordPress specifically
- Manage robots.txt and schema via Yoast or Rank Math; both can emit JSON-LD.
- Upload /llms.txt to the web root or use a small plugin/snippet.
- Ensure your theme outputs a real <h1>, canonical and OG tags (most do).
